Ekaterina Kirsanova was born in 1994 in Krasnodar, Russia. She began her musical career with a violin at the age of seven. In 2010 she entered the Rimsky-Korsakov College of Music where, in addition to her studies, she gained performance experience as a soloist with the Krasnodar Symphony Orchestra as well as the Chamber Orchestra of the Moscow State Philharmonic Society. From 2010 to 2011 Ekaterina was a grantee of the Russian Cultural Foundation.
After training in Krasnodar, Ekaterina moved to Würzburg to study with Prof. Grigori Zhislin at the Hochschule für Musik. One year later, she made the switch to viola and joined Prof. Nimrod Guez’s class. In August 2015, Ekaterina performed in a masterclass with Professor Barbara Westphal (Lübeck).
Ekaterina performs frequently with duo partner Robert Umanskiy (Piano, HfM Dresden), and has been a fellow of Paul-Hindemith-Orchesterakademie since April 2018.
Ekaterina likes dancing (Tango), swimming, and cooking. She also has a penchant for barkeeping.
