Andrea Fernández Ponce
Andrea Fernández Ponce was born in 1992 in Soria (Spain) and began playing the cello at the age of 7 with Prof. Alvaro Huertas, at the music school “Oreste Camarca”. From 2007-2014 she received regular private lessons from Prof. Michal Dmochowsky. In 2014 she completed her Bachelor of Music at the “Real Conservatorio de Música de Madrid” with Angel G. Germann.
In the summer semester 2015 she began her master studies at the Robert Schumann Musikhochschule in Düsseldorf with Professor Gregor Horsch. She is currently continuing her second master’s degree at the Orchesterzentrum NRW in Dortmund.
Andrea played in the Spanish Youth Orchestra (JONDE) from 2012-2015 and has been a member of the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester since 2016. She has also performed with the OSN (Orquesta Sinfónica de Navarra) Orchestra.
Andrea attended master classes with (among others) Natalia Shakhovskaya, Kazimierz Michalik, Philip Müller, Jens Peter Maintz, Wolfgang Emanuel Schmidt, Troels Svane and Wolfgang Boettcher.
Besides playing the cello, her favorite activities are photography, yoga and preparing delicious desserts…
Andrea Fernández Ponce joined the PHO in April 2018.
